Texas Knifemakers Launch “The Linerlock Syndicate” — A New Brotherhood of Custom Knife Artists


Texas, USA – 9/19/2025  -  The Linerlock Syndicate (LLS) is a brotherhood and association of custom knifemakers dedicated to advancing the craft of linerlock folding knives. Established upon the teaching and influence of highly accomplished Linerlock style knifemaker, Eliot Maldonado, the Syndicate is an exciting initiative by he and an early folding knife protégé and long time maker, Brian Milinski.  In their early days of knifemaking, Eliot Maldonado and fellow maker, Alan Davis, explored the makings of their first linerlock knives only to become a lifelong passion to follow. Launched as a commitment to honoring the linerlock folding knife and upholding the highest standards of quality, integrity, and professionalism within the knifemaking community.

Through mentorship, education and collaboration amongst the group, the Linerlock Syndicate seeks to preserve the rich traditions of knifemaking while embracing modern innovations in metallurgy, design, and technique. Our mission is to foster excellence among its’ fraternal members, promote the art of handcrafted linerlock knives, and ensure the continuity of the craft of linerlock knives for future generations.


Organizational Overview


The Linerlock Syndicate (LLS) is a primarily Texas-based professional fraternity of accomplished linerlock knifemakers. Founded by Eliot Maldonado and Brian Milinski, with inaugural members:

Eliot Maldonado, Brian Milinski, Alan Davis, John Horrigan M.S., Scott Gallagher, Bill Poor, Kevin Langley, Jim Clow, Stephen Roney, and Joe Bear


The Linerlock Syndicate exists as body of makers for following purposes:

  • To provide a platform for members to exchange ideas, skills, and technical knowledge

  • To highlight and promote the work of its members within the broader knifemaking community and collectors

  • To represent and advance the value of handcrafted linerlock knives through publications, podcasts, social media, and other mediums

  • To encourage and support members in the pursuit of professional and artistic excellence

  • To cultivate relationships with collectors, offering opportunities for them to engage with and collect the works of LLS members


“Our vision for The Linerlock Syndicate is to have a great time stretching our knifemaking abilities while honoring Eliot for his guidance with the finer nuances of the linerlock mechanism and helping to highlight linerlock knives amongst enthusiasts and collectors,” said Milinski.  Eliot shared, “Through education, collaboration, and community, we aim to keep the tradition alive while encouraging innovation.”

The Linerlock Syndicate stands as a dedicated professional body devoted to the preservation of tradition, the promotion of innovation, and the recognition of excellence in linerlock knifemaking.
