What a year 2025 was for the knifemaking community and for me personally as I had the opportunity to grow as a both a maker and a knifemaking mentor. Striving to increase the excellence in each build resulted in getting to know new collectors and continuing to build a place in the knifemaking community.

Teaching and Growing

Mentoring a relatively new maker over the past year, reminded me of many past learned techniques as well as helped me to focus on improving my skillsets across various styles of knives and their uses.

While folding knives continue to be my primary focus, I've also explored advanced bolstered fixed blades and engraving. The results have been great fun!

Advancements within the Guilds

Locally, the Texas Knifemakers' Guild continues to be one of the largest Statewide Knifemaking Guilds in the nation while The Knifemakers' Guild is our nationally acclaimed guild for which many great members are a part of.

This past year, I was able to pass rigorous testing and evaluations to obtain the top level of The Texas Knifemakers' Guild, called the Texas Ranger Maker (classification) and just this past month, I submitted 4 knives to obtain my Voting Membership classification in the national Knifemakers' Guild. It was with great pride and thankfulness that these credentials were received from my peers and established makers known throughout our community.

2025 Awards and Publishings

2025 was truly a year of growth and I couldn't be more thankful for the help received along the way by many fellow makers and mentors as well as the opportunities to share knives I made at local and national shows and the support of knife users and collectorsl

This year I received the "Best Folder" award at the Texas Custom Knife Show for the third year in a row and I know next year there will be steep competition!

Photos of several linerlock folders also were viewed in Knife Magazine, the Annual Book of Knives as well as a few other publications and it was encouraging to see. Keep an eye out for an upcoming issue of Knife magazine to hear more about some of the Milinski knives ongoings as well as this month's issue of Blade Magazine to see the Purple Dragonskin knife! (April edition)
